Submission Guidelines
Verdad is an online magazine. Verdad seeks interesting, well-written and previously unpublished poetry, fiction, memoir, essay and visual art.
If AI has been used to generate any portion of your submission, you must disclose this on the piece or in your cover letter.
Submissions must include a brief biography with current contact information (telephone number, address, e-mail address).
Verdad accepts simultaneous submissions but must be notified if work is accepted elsewhere.
The submission period for Volume 35 closes on October 31, 2023. Submissions received after that date will be considered for the next issue.
- Fiction/Nonfiction:
4,000 – 7,000 words. Submit single-spaced MS Word or .rtf attachment. No pdf or Google Drive files, please. Currently, we are not accepting novel excerpts. - Poetry:
3-5 poems in a single attachment. - Gallery:
Please attach 4–10 images of about 1.5 MB each and at least 900 pixels on the longer side. Also include titles of the works, a brief bio in the third person voice; and a brief artist's statement expressing in plain language how or why these images came into being. Avoid Artspeak. - Short Films:
Please send a private, HD 1080p viewing link (if password protected please send the password) and a paragraph-long director’s statement. The director’s statement should explain any theme or artistic vision you think could benefit the viewer. We are open to all genres except films with gratuitous sex and/or violence. Maximum runtime for submissions is 30 minutes.

Electronic submissions must be in the form of an attachment. Please do not copy and paste the submission into the body of the e-mail.
Submissions read year round.
All future rights to material published in Verdad are retained by the individual authors and artists.
