A Moonlight Night
A moonlight night like this
can lift one’s mood a number
of ways. The clear starlight
after a chaotic day is
calming as a night’s slumber.
Shadows hide from sight
the dreary things: The scrawl
of graffiti, grimy streets,
the city’s breed astray.
Bright lights fall
alike on all one meets,
display all faults. Away
from the pitiless glare
moonlight soothes. Young
lovers boldly embrace
unaware of my shameless stare.
They count themselves among
the stars, the splendor of space.
